Businesses are like bodies. They need very strategic elements in order to function at their best. Businesses need to be nurtured and cared for as if they are living, breathing organisms – because to be honest, they are.
It’s counterintuitive to begin a business by planning and creating systems. Most people would prefer to just jump in and begin immediately. They want to set up a website and start selling on social media as soon as the idea is etched into their minds. But what if, we started our businesses by developing systems first.
A system is more about how things work than where or what you’re doing. For example, there are thousands of restaurants that sell cheeseburgers but they all have various systems that help them move things along. Businesses need to evaluate what they’re doing and develop a system that will help them do it better and more efficiently.
There are a few tools we use to do this in our own business and when we consult with other small businesses.
We use a Project Management Software to keep track of our projects and the process in which those projects are executed. We can organize when projects are due and who is responsible for project completion, approvals and scheduling. Project management softwares can be used to track both your processes and pertinent notes about each project or client.
Our Payroll and Expenses are automated and connected to our payment system. We’re always finding new ways to make the process of invoicing and payments more efficient. We keep all of our documents and receipts in one place so that tax time is (just a little) less of a headache.
The forms we have listed on our site help us gather information from our amazing clients in one fall swoop. We can create forms for any process we need to automate and make easier for ourselves and our potential clients. We can also use this process to assess whether a project is a good fit for us.
If you have ideas about how to develop systems but not a clear vision for how to create them, let us know how we can help. We love walking entrepreneurs through the best way to run their business so you can spend more time doing what you love.
