“I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T”: How To Get Things Done As A Solopreneur

When Destiny’s Child and Boosie talk about independence, it looks a lot more glamorous than it feels. No, you’re not alone, being a solopreneur is HARDWORK. Take a moment to consider all of the things you do on a daily basis – it’s enough for an entire team. But until you get there, there are ways to keep the business going while also keeping (most of) your sanity. Here are a few ways to get things done when you are a one person team.

Automate Your Processes

Honestly, who has time to spend all day creating and sending invoices and emails while also trying to process inquiries? Nobody. Automating your processes will definitely help you free up some time and make running a business so much easier. There are so many different tools and ways to do this but think about the things that take up the most time in your day and brainstorm on how you can make them automatic.

Join A Co-working Space

Co-working spaces are popping up everywhere and they are a great way to feel like you’re part of a community even as a solopreneur. You can also meet new people and find partnerships in these spaces. And on the obvious front, co–working spaces are literally created to give you a place to get your work done, so there’s that.

Create A Task List

If you’re a list person, you probably already have this practice in your business life and if you don’t, I’d recommend it. A task list is helpful when you have a million different projects and moving pieces. You can create a list in Excel (or any other task management tool) and include due dates, priorities, client, and task type. If nothing else, it helps you get all of that information from your brain to a tangible visual.

Take Advantage Of Time Blocks

Life gets so busy and no matter how much time you spend on your work, there is always so much more to do. We’ve found that focusing your time on one task for a solid 20 minutes can help you accomplish things throughout the day. If your schedule is full and you only have thirty minutes to an hour to work, choose the highest priority tasks and focus!

Hire An Agency

Let’s be honest, sometimes you just can’t get it all done on your own. Sometimes, you NEED help and that’s perfectly fine. Look around you to find people or companies who can assist you in meeting your goals. We are here to help you with all of your branding, marketing, and content related needs when it feels like way too much to do on your own.
