“I’m Coming Out, I Want The World To Know!”: How To Build The Perfect Website

“I’m Coming Out, I Want The World To Know!”: How To Build The Perfect Website

So you want to know how to build the perfect website. Have you decided that it’s time for the world to see who you are and what you’ve had brewing for years? Or are you an entrepreneur who has been operating for quite some time and you’ve never had the time, money, or guidance to build your own website? No matter which category you fall in, it is never too late to show up and show out online. We’re all about letting the world know who you are and what you can do so we’ve got a few tips for you to follow when building the perfect website.

Identify Your Why

One of the first things you need to do when creating a website is identify the “why”. Why do you need a website and what do you want people to gain from it? Identifying your why is also about knowing your priority messaging and main functions so that you’re able to create pages and structure that best support exactly what you need your website to do for you. Your why is your foundation and your guiding light as you move forward.

Choose Your Theme

The theme you choose for your website is heavily dependent on the hosting site you utilize. Sites like WordPress have both free and paid themes that you can choose from to create the site of your dreams. It all depends on the function and ‘why‘ of your site. For example, if you’re using your site primarily as a blog, you’ll need one theme but if you’re selling services, you’ll benefit from a completely different theme. You can browse themes and even preview them before use to decide what works best for you.

Decide on your pages

Your pages are the main guide for the people who come visit your site. They tell people where to go and how to find what they’re looking for. You may look at examples of other sites and decide you want your site to look like someone else’s, which is fine; but you must consider your own specific needs in the process. You may only need three pages, whereas someone with more complex offerings may needs six.

Write Your Content

This seems to be the hardest part for most people. Writing your own content can be challenging for some,  mostly because telling your own story is very difficult. When attempting to write your content, imagine you’re speaking to your ideal customer. Imagine you’re telling them who you are and why they should patronize your business or support your cause. Writing content doesn’t have to be complicated; if you stick to being your authentic self and playing to your strengths, you can get it done.
